Based in North Yorkshire, George Boomsma has been honing his song-writing craft and live
performances over the past decade and has been gradually gaining some well-earned attention and
respect from gig-goers and fellow musicians alike. Last seen at The Engine Room in October 2021
as part of ‘I saw Nick Drake’ when he notably used Drake’s guitar to perform ‘Place To Be’. This time
around George headlines, performing his own material and featuring music from his new EP entitled
‘What’s Left Behind’
Pre pandemic, 2019 saw George playing dates with Mercury Prize nominee Kathryn Williams on her
Anthology Tour with a notable show at The Sage, Gateshead. That year he also accompanied rising
folk star, Katherine Priddy on her debut national tour. A collaboration that continues to bear fruit. He
has also worked with established artists such as Paul Smith (Maximo Park), Neill MacColl, Michele
Stodart (Magic Numbers), The Travelling Band, Chloe Foy, Martha Tilston and in July 2022 he was
invited to open for the legendary Richard Thompsom. On top of that, this year George has appeared
at Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival and Mosely Folk festival. As well as these prestigious live
performances George appeared live with Katherine Priddy on BBC 2 TV as part of their Glastonbury
coverage. His music has also been aired on BBC Radios 1 and 2 and BBC 6 Music.

Philip Jonathan’s songs are carefully crafted from deep, personal meditations on these moments; a
reflection on the questions that rise to the surface, and a relentless hunt for the beauty found in some
of the rawest and most vulnerable moments of our lives. Beyond the lyrics, he hopes to communicate
a sense of narrative through the compositions themselves. Drawing musical inspiration from the likes
of Sigur Ros and Ben Howard, his deep, story-telling lyrics are set against sweeping soundscapes
reflecting the wind-blasted coast and richly-coloured hills of his North East home.
‘An incredible feat of music production, [Seafront] will surprise you from start to finish. From Philip’s
delicate, perfect falsetto and impeccable guitar fingerpicking to grand crescendos.’- NARC Magazine
‘There’s nothing I could say here to prepare you for the energy and power of the guitar solo that rips
into the middle of this lulling acoustic folk tune. The juxtaposition is as satisfying as it is surprising.
This is a gem.’- Ear to the Ground
